SAVANNAH, Georgia — “The genius of Savannah resides in its contradictions,” wrote R. W. Apple Jr. in Apple’s America. However, food was not one of those contradictions he named.
In The Pirates’ House Cookbook, on the page entitled “Southern Charm … Savannah Style,” author Sarah Gaede writes, “There’s a feeling in Savannah — it a sharing, a giving, a glow of pride — something everyone senses.”
So in sharing our recipes we will simply grin at the idea of our own contradictions – inviting guests to stay with us, while publishing our recipes so that guests can cook at home. Call it “Southern Charm … Savannah Style”.
Come when you can. Meanwhile, enjoy!
