If you have not been to the Historic Savannah Theatre in downtown Savannah, GA in a while, you must go. Last evening I took my Mom and cousins to enjoy the very first show of the Savannah Tenors. What a performance! A beautiful blend of harmonic tenor voices in several genres of music. It appears that two of the original cast are off on maternity leave so the boys decided to put a show together encompassing many musical types and styles. From show tunes “Phantom of the Opera”, to Danny Boy to The Beatles mania (Hey Jude) and then to television show jingle Happy Days, they hit the mark right on. We heard rock and roll to opera. Voices to die for.
And then there was Maynard (the handy man or janitor I guess)!!! You must see his crazy antics to appreciate the talent. Broadway has nothing on Savannah GA and her gutsy performers. There were fabulous instrumentals and hand clapping lyrics which left you smiling and remembering your favorite music. AND then there was Maynard again!! Nothing was left out from any era, and you as the onlooker could appreciate all of the music. Maybe the next go round, a little Journey??
Go see and listen when you have a chance. As one of my guests put it this morning at breakfast, “Probably the best $35 admission price spent during our stay in Savannah. Well worth it.”
Savannah, Georgia you have some talent!
