Wow, what a week this has been. Savannah folks really know how to spend time with friends and family during the big Christmas rush. We started off with a wonderful dinner at Alligator Soul on Wednesday evening. Ms Maureen and Chef Chris invited their pals to join them in an evening of merriment and thanksgiving for all their blessings in 2010; their fabulous friends, business acquaintenances, random acts of kindness, just being able to survive these hard economic times. We ate so much it was unbelieveable! Turkey, pork, beef, pototoes, dressing, green beens, squash and tomato casserole, cranberry chutney, brussel sprout and artichoke salad and breads. I could not even look at the dessert table. Can you say gluttonous? We cannot thank Alligator Soul enough for the wonderful friendship, scrumptious food, great wine and beautiful atmosphere we experienced this last week at their annual Christmas party.
Then Friday evening was the Wright Square night out. We walked from shop to shop all around the square, sampling goodies and doing some Christmas shopping. Every vendor, from the art galleries to the chocolatier, had lovely decorations, special hors d’oeuvres, wine and cider. Some of the kids traveled from shop to shop caroling too. It was an evening of connecting with old friends and making new ones. Especially nice was the fact we had no rain and it was warmer weather than we had earlier in the week.
On Sunday my pal Sandy and I went to Leoci’s for a few hors d’oeuvres, wine and Santa Claus. Roberto and his wife invited their friends in Savannah to enjoy a time of culinary delight at their special restaurant. We tasted 3 or 4 differents pizzas, several types of bruschetta, and great wines. How wonderful it was to sit and watch the kids talk to Santa then go out back to play bocci ball.
