Soon Tybee’s North Beach will be transformed into a dreamlike seascape dotted with elaborate castles and wild creatures formed from the imaginations of SCAD students. At this Annual Tybee Sand Art Festival, sand lovers create true to life forms out of the sand on the beach of Tybee Island. All contests are open and participants will be competing for prizes, totalling $5,000.
The SCAD Sand Arts Festival is set for Friday, May 6, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The expectation is for several thousand spectators to recall their favorite childhood summers and remember all the possibilities a shovel, pail and beach sand can produce.
This event is more than just sun and fun. Prizes will be presented in five different categories, so every SCAD students has 5,000 good reasons to participate since.
